A new air link from London City to the North West of England takes off today (May 18) with the launch of a new weekly British Airways service to Manchester.

The Thursday evening flight direct from the Docklands, with the option of two return flights on Sundays, is ideal for those looking to spend the weekend in Manchester.

It is also an excellent commuter route linking the two cities for business travellers.

This summer is the busiest ever for the airline at London City. A new route to the Greek island of Skiathos launches on June 26, bringing the total number of destinations served in British Airways colours from the Docklands airport to 29 with more than 1.9 million seats on offer.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways' general manager commercial and customer, said: "This weekend marks the start of a very busy summer for us at London City. The new route to Manchester strengthens our domestic network and offers customers from London a perfect opportunity to spend a weekend in one of the north’s most vibrant, exciting cities.”
